So what is this website all about?

More than the self-focused pursuit of some so called “good life,” this site is about discovering one’s deepest life passions/purpose and leveraging new technology to make them a reality.

The challenge begins in our minds with our perception of what is possible and the walls of tyranny that “reality” has erected between us and our dreams. Perhaps the worst of these “realities” is the notion of being stuck in one place, one location.

This website is about your journey to freedom of location. And we are all looking forward to hearing your story.

I will also be sharing my journey and struggle on the road.

My name is Taiyo Johnson and I had my first taste of the location free income life whilst studying abroad as a foreign student in Japan. (The life, not the location free income)

As my next adventure I am hoping to “outsource myself to India.”

Theory
As a rough outline, Location-free Income would be achieved through:

  • “Digital Minimalism”
    • reduction of material possessions
    • digitisation of material possessions (scanning important documents, taking pictures of mementos and then purging them)
    • renting/using services instead of owning (netflix instead of owning dvds, bookswim - the netflix of books - instead of owning books)
    • doing without - (the Henry David Thoreau school of simplicity/tranquility)
  • Mobile Living Know-How
    • travel knowledge. finding necessities overseas. surviving long-term abroad. dealing with immigration issues.
  • Mobile Income Know-How (a.k.a. “Liberation”)
    • Mobile business
      • among other things, effective use of SaaS (Software As A Service) to run your business’s backend from anywhere. I have a website focused solely on this called BackSaaS
      • preferably starting a business that lends itself to going mobile.
    • Mobile work (for those not leaving their jobs)
      • techniques for working remotely (and for getting permission to work remotely)
      • securing a job overseas or a job that allows mobility
